Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro F300 Simulator

Scuderia Ferrari ensign.

"The funny thing about Spa is that not everybody gets it flat, all of the time." - Derek Bell

This is my cockpit simulator. I designed and built this one at the end of last year, basing it on the Ferrari F300 that Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine drove in the 1998 World Championship.
What I was after was a way of linking Wheel and Pedals with a comfortable sitting position, so I could race without suffering the stiff neck and shoulders I would get racing from my desk.
I took the measurements I was sure of, on the F300 chasis and used them to more accurately gauge the measurements I didn't know. For example, a Goodyear tyre is usually 660mm in diameter so all you need from there is a compass and a scale print out
of the car.

Basic construction is from Medium Density Fibre board with some of the sections cut separately with a jigsaw, glued together and then shaped with a wood rasp to look less boxey. I added side appendages to it as well for this reason. The steering wheel is removable like in real F1 and you need to remove it to get in and out. My monitor base fits into a hole I left for it so it sits nicely at eye level.

Can anyone who can help with a Lotus49 simulator plan please get in touch. I want to see one built but I don't have room left to build it. I'm sure there are lots of GPL'ers out there who might take on the task if we can come up with the design though. Perhaps with a Logitech Formula Force tucked away behind the dash panel??: )
